Learn to sew or refine your technique at Josephine's

SEWING BASICS I

Session A		Tuesdays, January 24 - February 14, 2012
Session B		Thursdays, February 9 - March 1, 2012
Session C		Mondays, February 27 - March 19, 2012
Session D		Thursdays, April 5 - 26, 2012
Session E		Tuesdays, May 22 - June 12, 2012

6:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Class Fee: $100 per session
Instructor: Elizabeth Miles

This four-week class introduces adults to the art of sewing. Each student will choose and make a project from an instructor-approved list. In addition, everyone will practice these techniques: pinning and cutting, basic seam finishes, stay stitching, fusing interfacing, and making a casing, a lapped zipper and shaped seams. Class fee includes sample supplies; Elizabeth also brings basic sewing tools for your use during class. First class attendance is crucial to learn machine skills and purchase project supplies. Approved projects include specific patterns for pull-on pants, pull-on skirts, aprons, a tote, a small purse, and a decorator pillow.

REGISTRATION:

All classes are held at Josephine's Dry Goods, 521 SW 11th, in downtown Portland.
Class fees must be paid at the time of registration. Cash or check (made payable to the instructor) is preferred, but you may also use your credit card.
Classes may be cancelled if there are insufficient paid registrations.
48 hour cancellation notice required prior to first class for registration refund.
Please plan to attend all sessions; there are no make-up classes.
Students qualify for a 10% discount on purchases at Josephine's Dry Goods during class session.
Sewing machines available upon request at no charge for use during classes.
We recommend the parking garage at the First Presbyterian Church on the corner of 12th and Alder, if you don't find on-street metered parking.
