Marla will explain the process of collage and effectively combining fabrics, colors, prints, plaids and stripes. Learn how to make and shape bias tape, applique, couch and the slicing technique. Practice the techniques as you create your collage and then easily sew up a one-of-a-kind tote bag.
Fabric – cottons are great for this project, but you can also consider wool, linen, silk, rayon, polyester or blends for your collage pieces
½ yard fabric for base – prints or textures work best, quilting weight, heavier cotton or lighter weight home dec fabric
4 – 6 more fabrics for collage 1/8 to 1/3 yard each and/or scrap pieces
1 – 2 fabrics for bias tape – ¼ – ½ yard each – cottons work best, small scale stripes or plaids are great
Thread to match base fabric and bias tape fabrics
KK2000 Spray Adhesive
Steam a Seam Lite or other paper backed fusible web for applique
yarn, narrow ribbon or trim for couching
